Description

The main objective of the current report is to collect and update information on solid waste management (SWM) and to identify the key stakeholders of the waste sector in Jordan. The task undertaken by the SWEEP-Net national technical expert is also aiming to investigate the opportunities to set-up a national solid waste network in Jordan that is affiliated to SWEEP-Net. The total daily amount of municipal solid waste disposed at the Jordanian landfills was found to be 5500 tonnes /day. The solid waste stream is mainly composed of organics with 52% of weight. The municipal solid waste collection coverage is 90% in the urban areas and 70% in rural side.
